Coaching in Business

The demand for change in business practise has never been greater than it is today.

“Getting the best out of people” is a cliché that has been around for years however with the need for change and optimum performance that surrounds us in business today then we do really need optimum performance from our staff.

Studies show that, on average, only 40% of people’s potential manifests itself in the workplace.

Coaching has seen a remarkable growth in recent years and is becoming a well-used word in the dictionary of business executives. Our aim is to develop a culture of coaching within your organisation so that it becomes a way of enhancing skills and developing people. Unfortunately, in most situations in the workplace, time takes precedence over learning and business performance falls short of what it could be. As managers we often send people on a training course and hope that they will come back with all the skills and renewed motivation to succeed. However 87% of skills gained on a course are lost due to lack of follow up. That’s why with all of our courses, coaching sessions are included after the course.

There are 2 key elements to coaching – awareness and responsibility.

Awareness encompasses self awareness as well as that of systems, dynamics, of relationships. Awareness empowers people to do. We are able to control only that which we are aware of so increasing awareness empowers us to gather more information and gives us the ability to determine which is relevant.

Responsibility is also crucial for high performance. When we accept, choose or take responsibility for our thoughts and our actions, our commitment to them rises and so does our performance. Responsibility involves choice. When we are told or expected to be responsible, performance does not increase.
