NLP came about through the process of modelling; Grinder and Bandler modelled key successful people such as Virginia Satir and Milton Eriksson to see how they were good at what they did. Instead of purely focussing on the external behaviour, they “got inside” their heads and focussed on their internal filters – values, strategies, representational systems, beliefs, attitudes etc. By understanding these we can then understand the how of the success. Once we know the how of the success we can train others...
